John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever shall believeth on him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Matthew 4:18
Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee. He saw two brothers. They were Simon (his other name was Peter) and Andrew, his brother. They were putting a net into the sea for they were fishermen.
Jesus said to them, “Follow Me. I will make you fish for men!” At once they left their nets and followed Him.
Matthew 4:21
Going from there, Jesus saw two other brothers. They were James and John, the sons of Zebedee. They were sitting in a boat with their father, mending their nets. Jesus called them. At once they left the boat and their father and followed Jesus.
Matthew 16:13
When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.
I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Then he ordered his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.
Matthew 16:21
From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.
Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. “Never, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to you!”
Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”
Luke 22:31
The Lord said, “Simon, Simon, listen! Satan has wanted to have you. He will divide you as wheat is divided from that which is no good. But I have prayed for you. I have prayed that your faith will be strong and that you will not give up. When you return, you must help to make your brothers strong.” Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, I am ready to go to prison and to die with You!” Jesus said, “I tell you, Peter, a rooster will not crow today before you will say three times that you do not know Me.”
John 18:10
Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. (The servant’s name was Malchus.)
Jesus commanded Peter, “Put your sword away! Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me?”
John 21:15
When they were finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love (Agape) Me more than these?” Peter answered Jesus, “Yes, Lord, You know that I love (phileo) You.” Jesus said to him, “Feed My lambs.”
Jesus said to Peter the second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love (Agape) Me?” He answered Jesus, “Yes, Lord, You know that I love (phileo) You.” Jesus said to him, “Take care of My sheep.”
Jesus said to Peter the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love (phileo) Me?” Peter felt bad because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love Me?” He answered Jesus, “Lord, You know everything. You know I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep…
After Jesus said this, He said to Peter, “Follow Me.”
Peter turned around. He saw the follower whom Jesus loved, following. This one had been beside Jesus at the supper. This is the one who had asked Jesus, “Lord, who will hand You over?” Peter saw him and said to Jesus, “But Lord, what about this one?” Jesus said, “If I want this one to wait until I come, what is that to you? You follow Me.”
So the news spread among the followers that this follower would not die. But Jesus did not say to him that he would not die. He said, “If I want him to wait until I come, what is that to you?”
